DES PLAINES – State Senator Laura Murphy will join State Representatives Michelle Mussman and Justin Cochran to host a job fair event through the Illinois Department of Employment Security.

“While technology makes applying for and finding new jobs easier, job fairs provide an important opportunity for job seekers to build face-to-face connections with employers and learn about different professional pathways,” said Murphy (D-Des Plaines). “I encourage job seekers to take advantage of this event to find a career that inspires them.”

SPRINGFIELD – State Senator Laura Murphy’s bill to provide additional protections for domestic violence victims from intimidation was signed into law Friday by Governor JB Pritzker.

“Our courtrooms should feel safe and secure so victims feel comfortable sharing their story during a very stressful time in their life,” said Murphy (D-Des Plaines). “Illinois has zero tolerance for those who try to intimidate or harass domestic violence victims, and this law fortifies that truth.”

DES PLAINES – To help limit blood shortages in hospitals, and ensure patients can receive blood transfusions, State Senator Laura Murphy is partnering with Versiti Blood Center of Illinois for a community blood drive event.

“Donating blood is one of the easiest ways we can support those in our community in desperate need of care,” said Murphy (D-Des Plaines). “I encourage all those who are able to participate and help ensure care providers have the necessary supply to provide life-saving blood transfusions.”

DES PLAINES— To encourage students to continue reading habits outside of school, State Senator Laura Murphy is launching a Summer Reading Club for students in the 28th Senate District.

“Now more than ever, we need to encourage students to put down their electronic devices and pick up a book instead,” said Murphy (D-Des Plaines). “I hope my Summer Book Club motivates young people to set goals for themselves and learn that reading is a gateway to knowledge and adventure.”
